A wedding photographer who posted a selfie of her daughter shooting a web shooter at a pool party in her parents backyard could face criminal charges.
The post by Katie Cavanaugh and her husband Josh Cavanaugh sparked outrage on Tuesday after the woman posted it to her personal Facebook page on Wednesday morning.
It shows Cavanaugh holding a digital camera while holding her daughter at a nearby pool.
“It was fun for us to be able to do some things that we hadn’t done before and just have some fun,” Katie Canicas told ABC News on Tuesday.
“I love to shoot and shoot a lot of different things.”
Katie Cavanaugh’s mother, Rachel Cavanaugh, said in a statement the family was devastated by the incident and their daughter was “scared to death” by what she had done.
“We don’t know how long this will last, but the best thing is that she is now safely at home,” she said.
A spokeswoman for the Texas Department of Public Safety told ABCNews.com on Thursday that Katie Caughlinns case is under investigation.
Cavanaugh told ABC news on Wednesday that she didn’t know the photo was a threat when she posted it, and that she hoped it would get her daughter a smile.
