Police are investigating a shooting early Saturday in the Minneapolis neighborhood of Bloomington that left a six-year-old dead.
Police said the shooting happened around 3:30 a.m. in the 1600 block of North Nicollet Avenue.
Police said the child’s mother, identified as Kaci Thomas, and two other children were in the home.
Police later identified the child as Aaron Martin, who was in the process of getting out of the house when he was shot.
A family member identified as Thomas said she believes the child was shot by a man in the backyard.
The neighbor who lives next door told CBS News that he saw a man with a gun in the front yard and the child running.
Thomas’ father told CBS affiliate WCCO-TV that he and his wife are very worried and want answers and they want answers now.
The neighbor told WCCo that the neighborhood has been quiet and that he’s not sure if the child had anything to do with the shooting.
Police have not released the name of the shooter.
