A church shooting at a Corona, California, Costco on Friday has left five people dead, including the gunman.
NBC affiliate KABC reports the shooter, identified as 63-year-old Brian T. Williams, is believed to have been mentally unstable and was planning to carry out a church shooting.
The shooting began at about 8:20 a.m. local time and lasted nearly an hour.
The suspect was killed after a standoff with police, KABC reported.
Williams was killed when officers opened fire.
The sheriff’s department said Williams was armed with a rifle and several knives.
Authorities believe the gunman was mentally unstable, but that they did not immediately know his motive.
