A police shooting range was struck by a bullet that went through a wall, injuring an officer and one other person on Thursday.
The incident occurred at the Chicago Police Department’s “Shooting Sports Range,” a facility located in the city’s West Side neighborhood, where a police officer and two others were shot by a man who was wearing body armor and wielding a rifle, according to a statement released by the department.
The officer was shot and killed while attempting to arrest the suspect.
He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition.
The shooting was the second fatal shooting by a police shooting in the last week.
In mid-July, a Chicago police officer was killed after being shot in the head while responding to a domestic disturbance call in the area of Wacker Drive and Lincoln Avenue.
